To the viewers from LinkedIn who were directed here by a recent posting on Linked ..... welcome. We hope you find this site to be informative and hopefully it may inspire you to donate old ICT equipment to our project. We are a small scale voluntary enterprise with a long term view to help encourage computers in schools. This starts with physically getting equipment into schools. Some companies have a corporate social responsibility to support the local area and this project may be a possible win-win scenario for both schools and firms alike. We strongly encourage schools and students to use such systems as Scratch or App Inventor. Online resources such as Code Academy enable a teacher with minimal ICT skills to allow a student discover the amazing world of computing. Since there are so many aspects to computers, we believe that there is a place for every child. Students may love coding, others may enjoy video, most students enjoy games ...... so why not encourage them to find that area of computers that they like and develop this skill??? What can you do? If possible, we would appreciate any second hand ICT equipment that is in good working condition. From our experience, schools find it easier to use second hand PC's rather than laptops. Schools need the following:
If you have any equipment that could be donated but are unsure about it ..... simply contact us and we can advise you if it can be used or not. On behalf of a small group of volunteers, your support is much appreciated in this project. T Collins 21 Nov 2014 |
